We aim to fill our virtual shelves with items meant to be enjoyed today and to last many generations. To help preserve the beauty and function of your pieces, we offer the suggested care instructions below.

Cara and Kami Series from Takahashi Kougei

  • Clean with soft sponge and minimal dish soap. Rinse with warm water. Wipe with soft cloth and let dry.
  • Keep pieces free from boiling water.
  • Do not put pieces in microwave or dishwasher.
  • To maintain urethane coating, do not leave pieces soaking in water or holding liquid for an extended period.

Kakudo Series from Takahashi Kougei

  • Clean with soft sponge and minimal dish soap. Rinse with warm water. Wipe with soft cloth and let dry.
  • Rub surface with oil as needed.
  • Keep pieces free from boiling water.
  • Do not put pieces in microwave or dishwasher.
  • Do not leave pieces soaking in water or holding liquid for an extended period.

Kishu Binchotan Charcoal
More detailed instructions are included with your order.

  • Prior to first use: Rinse and brush the charcoal to remove excess ash. Next, add to a pot of water and bring to a boil for 10 minutes. Let dry.
  • To purify water: Let charcoal sit in container of water for several hours. Use approximately 1/4 pound of charcoal per gallon of water.
  • To maintain charcoal: Every two weeks, repeat boiling and drying process as described above. The boiling should release the impurities collected within the charcoal's microscopic cavities.

Porcelain and Stoneware
Our porcelain and stoneware pieces are generally oven-, microwave-, and dishwasher-safe. Though it is advised that you take care that more delicate items (porcelain spoons and mug loops) do not rattle or hit other surfaces in the dishwasher.
Please note, Hasami Porcelain is not oven-safe.

Ceramic Drinking Gourd

  • Remove the cork and set it out to dry when not in use.
  • The bottles (drinking gourds) are microwave- and dishwasher-safe, but remove the cork first.

  • Hand wash with soft sponge and mild detergent. Use a bottle brush for smaller glasses. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Do not stack glasses for storage.
  • When filling with ice cubes, fill gently with the glass tilted.
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as filling a warmed glass with ice cold water.
  • Do not put glassware in microwave or dishwasher.

  • Wash thoroughly before initial use.
  • Dishwasher safe. May be washed by hand occasionally with warm water and soap to prevent build-up.
  • Do not use abrasive powders or scrubbing pads.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water and let dry.

/ / METAL / /

Brass Objects by Futagami

  • Hand wash with mild detergent and soft cloth. Rinse and wipe with soft cloth.
  • Do not wash in dishwasher.
  • The best way to maintain brass is to use and touch the items daily.
  • When brass turns green, wipe off with a 1:1 solution of salt and vinegar.

Kaico Enamel Canisters

  • Hand wash and dry.
  • Do not wash in dishwasher.
  • Not stovetop-, oven-, or microwave-safe.

Flatware by Mepra

  • 18/10 stainless steel is dishwasher-safe.
  • May also be washed by hand with mild detergent and soft cloth.
  • Wipe dry with soft cloth to avoid spotting.
  • Avoid leaving pieces dirty and/or immersed in water for an extended period.

SyuRo Tins

  • After washing, wipe dry with soft cloth and air dry.
  • Do not use in refrigerator for storage.
  • Natural skin oils protect against stains and add luster and depth to the container's surface.

Fog Linen

  • Linen items may be machine washed cold without bleach.
  • Dry flat on a towel, or line dry.
  • May be ironed on high, when linen is still damp.
  • Wash patterned linens separately, at least for the first few washes.
  • May also be dry cleaned with any solvent other than trichloroethylene.

Fog Linen Resin Tray

  • Hand wash tray with warm soapy water and dry with soft cloth.
  • Do not leave tray exposed to sunlight for an extended period.
  • Do not leave wet cup or glass on tray for too long (may stain).
  • Do not let tray sit in water, as this may cause a color change.
  • Not suitable to use in the microwave, toaster, freezer or refrigerator.
  • Do not use tray as a cutting surface.

Studiopatro

  • Wash in cold or warm water (up to 110F).
  • Use a mild detergent, no bleach.
  • Line dry or tumble dry on low heat; remove while still damp.
  • For better absorbency, ironing is not recommended.

Yoshii and Kontex Towels

  • Machine wash cold with mild detergent.
  • Do not use bleach.
  • Hang or lay flat to dry or tumble dry on low/gentle cycle.
  • Steam iron at cotton setting, if desired.
  • Note: Use of fabric softener may reduce absorbency.
