Shop Update: Maternity Leave

Friday, May 31st, 2013

The shop will be in “browse only” mode starting June 1. We plan to be back with more items and restocked with your favorites when we re-open in July/August.

If you’re new to the shop or haven’t ordered with us before, thanks for taking a look! Also, you might be surprised to learn that each and every order is personally and carefully assembled, packaged and dropped off at the post office or FedEx by me.

I know I’ll miss the daily customer interactions while on maternity leave, but I’m also very much looking forward to directing that love and attention to our soon-to-arrive little package.

In the meantime, there may be occasional updates on twitter and instagram.

See you again later this summer!

Aha Moment

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Suzannah Scully is a career coach who helps people find their way out of corporate jobs by discovering their purpose. She also has a regular feature on her blog called Aha Moment interviews, where she shares stories of entrepreneurs who talk about their career changes and starting a company.

And you can see my interview here! I really enjoyed doing this interview because over the past year or so I’ve spent a lot of time sharing “what” my plans are for the shop. But this interview gave me the chance to think about and share “why.”

Also, if you’ve been following me on twitter, you may have seen me mention a few blogs that have featured or mentioned the shop. I get super excited to see any new mention, because it presumably means they liked what they saw and put the effort into writing up a post to share with their readers. So I really appreciate every single one of them.

The Homestretch

Monday, June 13th, 2011

We’re taking a little vacation this week to cap off our trip around the world. Then we’re headed back home, where it will be time to find a place to live and start our new careers in earnest. So there will be a little radio silence over here for at least a couple weeks. For mini-updates though, I may pop onto twitter from time to time.

Friday + 10 Days

Friday, June 10th, 2011

Today is the end of the week for most people. But lately, most days seem more or less the same for me. Traveling has been really fun with all the cultural differences, varying scenery and diversity in food. However, I truly cannot wait to get back home. I’ve got a business to launch!

I also miss the convenience and energy of living in the city.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I’m starting my new year off by taking a week off from work. Unlike everyone else who is just coming back from their winter breaks, I’ve chosen to avoid the new year rush. It’s like double vacation because I hung around the last couple weeks of December when the rest of the office was practically empty, and I had only one major project to complete. And now I’m taking a real week off. Going to avoid checking my email as much as possible, the source of most work evil.

Anyway, how did everyone spend their New Year’s Day? We kind of continued with our new tradition started last year of waking up and having a breakfast of champagne and caviar. It wasn’t breakfast on the day of this year, but we did share some champagne at midnight and I did have some caviar about an hour prior. We’ll try to make it up some time this week.

Picture from last year’s New Year’s Day. Too bad we can’t start off every Sunday that way. Maybe one day, but I suppose for now we’ll keep it special by saving it for one day out of the year.
